How is the DD 10.5 inch coil work at coin shooting

Bill M

New member
Just purchase this new DD 10.5 inch 7.5kHz, my stock 9 inch is back at the factory for repair. I just got the new coil today and I noticed target were sounding much different than my stock coil. Is there any secrets I need to know? I'm heading out tomorrow. I realize the larger coil is probably great for relic, but I'll be coin hunting. Any comments?

Bill.....I have been using the DD 7.5KHz coil for about 8 months. In my way of thinking the X-Terra-70 with the DD 7.5KHz makes for a perfect match. I recovered a large cent (184:geek: at 10" and a Barber dime (1906) at 9". Both coins were about 5ft apart. I have recovered over $40.00 in clad from a Boy Scout camp. I rarely used all medal mode when hunting coins. I use mode 1. By using mode 1 I not only find coins but don't miss rings and other lost items.
Most of the time I use two tones and hunt slowly. TomB

I have tried to edit this 3 time: should read 1848 at 10"

Hi Bill, I have been using the 10.5 DD 7.5 coil since they first came out with it a little over 2 an 1/2 years ago and I have never put the stock coil back on since I got it. I'm a coin shooter and I hunt " hard hit " old parks, schools, farm fields and the woods. Once you get use to the coil I think your going to love it and it doesn't take long to get use to it. The way i PP with the coil is I do a tight wiggle and pull it back to me and when the sound stops the target well be at the front edge of the coil. If you PP that way on a quarter signal and the numbers take a dive just before the sounds quites, 9 times out of 10 it's going to be a rusty bottle cap.

Good Luck with the new coil and have fun.
