How is the cz5 different from the 3d?

4 tones on the 3D vs 3 on the CZ5. Foil has a separate tone than pull tabs on the 3D whereas the CZ5, tone wise, foil and tabs are the same ( mid-tone) even though they ID different on the meter.

Enhanced mode on the 3D will hit as a high tone on some targets such as older nickels, Indian Head pennies and other coins where they might be a mid tone on the CZ5.

Other than that, they are basically the same in all the other areas assuming they are both tuned correctly ( depth, sensitivity, salt mode the same, how they ground balance).

If you are a old coin hunter and have access to older sites with less aluminum trash, using a CZ3D in enhanced mode can help find the older coins with digging less trash if all you are digging are high tone hits. If you hunt a newer site or trashy park in enhanced mode, a lot of aluminum and trash targets may ID as high tone.

If you dig everything but low tone iron hits, then there really isn't much of an advantage.

I had a 3D a liked it a lot, but since I don't hunt older sites but once in a blue moon and mostly beach hunt, I was not taking advantage of it so I sold it.

i had a 3d but got frustrated with the high to low tone that drove me nuts because every time i dig this type of signal dam nail just about everytime, so i decided was going back to single tone, i know of a guy just recently got the 1020 series and before had the newer version and told me that the older one one was better tones were more stable

Well they look the same cosmetically except CZ3D has gaudy decals...Workwise whereas the the CZ5 has a reg and salt mode the toggle is used for a regular mode and an andvanced mode where unit has been changed for old areas to basically dig more to get more of the oddball coins and tokens in real old areas..Rather than give a long detailed post google Nasa Tom Dankowski as he has an excellent article on the CZ3D and field tests are available on the net for a CZ5 so you can compare...
