Performance is top notch weight wise it shifts to the coil not the best ergonomics. But if your CZ can be hip or chest mounted that helps on the weight.
I have not tested it enough to comment on performance. From the posts I've read and the videos from Bill S. on YouTube, it seems to perform very well.
The weight issue is what I am very well aware of. It does shift the weight to the tip of the detector. I recommend an upper body workout regiment to hunt for long periods of time with the 10.5 coil
I hip mounted the unit and it helped a lot but I had to adjust my digging style to accommodate for the control box being on my left hip.
Performance wise it will be about 2 inches deeper than the stock coil, but the main advantage is more coverage in wide open areas with little trash. Another advantage I found is it is partial to deep coins on edge.
It certainly makes the detector nose heavy, but if you chest mount the detector you can swing it all day.
Even chest mounted, a 10.5 on my CZ5 starts to complain at half day. I think its the day/age issue. At 62 I am not the man I was 40 years ago. I am richer & smarter, but in many areas things are not what they once were. I can find a coin lost in a field a hundred years ago, but I search as hard for my glasses and keys sometimes. But I digress...

It has been stated on other forums that the unique "foil" tones are better on a CZ-3D to find gold rings.
I did find one gold ring last year with it....so I decided to put the 10.5" coil on her as I got a real good deal on one ($90).
But, what was Fisher thinking?...At least re-make it in a light-weight version.
Man is this heavy.
I opted for an 8" on my 1280-X when I bought it and now am glad I did.
Ergonomically it does not make sense. Underwater...maybe it does.
They CZ-3D's are great machines, but they really should modify their coil weight to stay competitive.
I love Fisher detectors, and I think the F-75 coil weights are more in-line and ergonomicallly so.
I don't know what unique about the foil tone on the CZ3D except perhaps being smaller.
I do know the foil tone on any CZ goes too low giving you the chance of finding a tiny thin gold ring and picking up every speck of foil in a park in the process.
I do know the nickle area goes lower in advanced mode on a CZ3D giving you a better chance of picking up older shield and V nickles and a nice thin gold diamond ring
plus a heck of a lot of more junk than a standard CZ in nickle range but again it does have a toggle to switch you back to a standard CZ in salt mode..
