How Ironic

Like so many other relic hunters I spend as much of my free time relic hunting. How many times have I gone out for hours with only clad and a few wheaties to show for it.

Well my mother, who is more than 70 years old just came back from the Netherlands and told me she looked down on the ground while standing near a tree and found "some kind of coin or token". After much research, I found the coin to be from 1573 during a period when King Philip of Spain ruled much of Europe! It is inscribed on the obverse with "PHILIP. D:G. COMES. HOLLAN." and the reverse, "AVX. NOS. IN. NOM. DOM" The coin is not in very good shape, but I found an artist's rendering of a very similar coin on a Dutch(?) website. It is the only reference I can find on the internet to this particular coin, so if anyone can translate, I will send you the URL.
