you get the battery flap to close. I know this sounds crazy but I just can,t get it to close and I want to take it to the beach but not until I can close that sucker.I got the explorer in Dec. and have no other problems, just haven't seen an answer to this. It's an early serial # if that makes a difference.
Thanks, Daniel S Ga

Heard of a few people having that problem, mine snaps right over the lip with some pressure..if your doesnt I dont know what to tell ya...

I put a very light application of vaseline on the inside surfaces of the housing lip. One application did the job for months. Keep the vaseline off outside surfaces so dirt doesn't stick to them.

A couple of other things to check... make sure the battery is sliding all the way in - that there is no obstruction inside the battery bay. Make sure there is no debris in the sealing groove of the rubber flap. when you close it, do it like a ziplock bag or tupperware bowl.... press one spot of the rubber flap down to seat it, then run your 2 fingers in opposite directions around the circumference of the lid... you'll see the rubber flap seat down on the detector housing as you go around it if it's working. One last thing, unscrew the single screw holding the flap to the detector housing and try sealing the flap down without it attached with the screw... the flap may be distorted near the area of the attaching screw so that it won't stay sealed.
Good luck, Mike.

early serial number? what would be a recent serial number?

Zorro my # is in the low 3000,I've seen post where they were in 4's and 5's,and I'm assuming the higher the # the later the detector was made.
