:minelab: Since the Ground is hard as a rock over in Indiana, as well as many other place,,, I headed to the woods again today... If you get a good leaf covered woods, the ground is only frozen down about 2-3 inches.. So i went out this morning and bought a brick hammer... It works amazing!!!! It is a little bit of a pain to carry.. I pounded through the frozen dirt, then used my knife the rest of the way... I ended up finding a Buffalo Nickel with no date, and a 1912 V Nickel .. Great Signals. they where about a foot apart from each other,, around 8-9 inches deep... The one nickel hit perfectly in the nickel range on the SE,, The other hit far far to the right really low... like a piece of foil.... But the tone was there,,, I knew it was a Nickel..... Thanks for looking and good luck

good idea! i've been hitting the woods lately, too, now that the bugs & weeds are gone.

Ya that freezing rain really made this ground hard as a rock around Indy area. Sangamon, you tried the new pro coil or the 10X12, which do you prefer? I dug a little yesterday... nothing but clad in about 30, then the wind and cold came in. Hopeing to get out of here for Fla on the 5th ive had enought of these season changes. Merry Christmas all...

Hey Dewcon,,,
I bought the Pro Coil and i love it!!!!!!!!!!!! the sounds are more clear than the stock coil... I have been hunting a lot of REALLY hard hunted parks.... Ive managed to do pretty well since i got the PRO,,, I pulled two Barber Quarters,,, DEEP where i know other detectors have been across,.. i haven't tried the 10 x 12 Ive heard good things on it as well... Good luck hunting bud.,, and find bunches of gold in Florida :detecting:

this morning. That would hang nicely from my Minelab pouch...as I usually keep my Lesche in my left hand while hunting anyway. You never know...I might go stir crazy this winter...and the brick hammer might let me take a stroll in the local park for a few minutes.:detecting:

HA HA yeah they work great,,,, You do end up eating a little icy dirt lol Good luck hunting Bryce!!!!!!!!!!

Wear safety glasses. :stars:
