how good is the m6 in realic hunting

After the M6 first came out, I took it to Eastern Oregon allong with anouther good Relic Machine. I ended up using the M6 when I could pry it out of my Brothers Greedy Hands. Great Relic Machine. I used the 6x10 DD Coil. I loved the way you can pinpoint off the Tip of the coil. I even ran the 7 tone ID. But I used -0- Discrim, locked the Tracking and the M6 done a wonderful job.

thxs poorman.ive been tearing my self up between m6 and mxt.but leaning toward m6 but didnt know how good it was in relic hunting.i know it suspose to be a really good coin shooter.

If your really torn between the two and if you can afford it, why not go with the MXT. It has a relic mode that is hotter than the M6, from what Ive read. And its a Gold prospecting machine also, probably one of the best all around detectors under a grand. If you relic hunt alot you will probably always wonder if you should have the MXT, so just get it and don't look back. I have the M6 and its damn good. But I also have a fisher 1270 for relic hunting if I need it.I don't have the MXT but I will stick my neck out and say if you plan on using the big 12" coils, then the MXT will give you some user adjustments that can help, like Gain and threshold, ect. The M6 is an awesome coin machine and is also good with small targets, but in my opinion it is not as flexible to different scenarios as the MXT..Just my H O ..Rich.

thxs ladigger.i live in wv so im not worried about the gold prospect.i do like finding old coins and do that alot.i also like relic hunting so im planning doing alot of when its start getting wam outside.i had one hell of febuary in old coins and a little relic.but im getting info for hopefully a good spring relic hunting.so thats why im torn in between a m6 and mxt.any more info would be a great help thxs.

Yeah. I think if your a serious relic hunter the MXT is the way to go. That threshold will find those deeper bullets that the silent search of the M6 will miss.

One thing about met det is that you don't know if you missed something until some one comes behind you and digs it up or you get a hotter machine that can handle your environment better an you dig it up yourself. For the type of hunting you describe , the MXT should be the best choice in my opinion,.The MXT users normally hunt coins in relic mode , from what I read , and say its better than the M6, but I have never had anyone come behind me with a MXT, so I don't know for sure, but I believe them.

thxs ladigger.hopefully ill have the moey within the month ill decide by then.thats means another of sleepless nights.lol

I have the MXT and really like it. Not selling the M6 short, but it's only a $100 more for the flexibility of the MXT.

Either machine will find relics at comparable depths but the deciding issue is will I be doing other types of hunting.... Gold Machine...MXT is great, hard to beat..... Coin machine, M6 has a slight edge with the Audio ID but limited to find Gold.....Richard R
