How good is the AT Pro?

I have been reading all the pros and cons, comparisons and conjecture of the capability of the ATPro. Regardless, I began my detecting with an inexpensive Garrett product, moved up to the ACE250 and finally to the GTI 2500. I loved my 2500 but due to a serious back injury found it just too heavy to swing all day. I bellyached to the Garrett folks for the lack of a lightweight detector that would be a step up from the ACE250 yet retain all the good qualities of same. Then along came the 350 that was a step up but not quite what I wanted. Now the ATPro is out and has nearly every feature I think I will want or need. I am a hobby detectorist, not necessarily a true treasure hunter and I think the ATPro will probably be my last detector unless some fabulous discovery makes a breakthrough in the business. The main complaint I have seen is conjecture that it won't be as deep as brand A, or won't have the multifrequencies of brand B, or won't air test as good as brand C, etc, etc....... Well from my experience I haven't the time or energy to dig a dime at a foot deep most of the time, so 6 to 8 " is fine for my needs. However, I do thing it will probably do better with experience and use. And from my experience many of the so called deeper seeking detectors are more the expertise of the user than any particular thousand dollar plus machine. So, I think me and the "Pro" will get along just fine.

Your reasons for choosing the At Pro pretty much echo mine. I have been swinging a Grand Master Hunter and really like it except for the weight the single tone. The At Pro will take care of both of those issues. Everything else is frosting on the cake as far as I am concerned.

Nice post.

The Pro should satisfy your every need and reward you well for your efforts. It will do everything one would expect it to do. There are no "magic" detectors out there regardless of the hype and hullabaloo tossed around.

I thought it was "the most awesome detector ever built"!----Who knows, maybe it is (for the money)--sure hope so!!

It will be if used properly and within its limits. It's got most everything else on the market beat performance wise for the money.

I guess we don't have to hear about anymore $1500 detector comparisons ...... It is what it is , and it does well at what it does well at ......Nothing more, and nothing less ..... It's still a nice, very usable machine ....Jim
