how good is the 10" eliptical coil?

Don't know about the Tesoros, but if you browse thru the Whites forum for the DFX, MXT series you'll see the 6X10 elliptical widescan is a heavy favorite and often used as the main coil.

Whenever one of my digging Buddy uses his Troy X5, he always uses the 5x10 DD., and has done really well with it. I did manage to find some info on the Lobo with 5X10 that really spoke highly of it. Now I am thinking same as you about the 5X10 W. for my Tejon. That should likely get some extra depth over the 5.75. Widescan, but it sure would be cool to hear from folks using either one , or both widescans on their machines. It is prety evident that their search pattern would be different from oneanother and that would call for some more thought to be put into the scheme of things.

so maybe one would be better off with the round coil widescan? well i guess it all depends what your hunting for?
