I detect in the water? I want to do some fresh water beach hunting. Just want to make sure and not ruin anything!
 
Should be able to hunt to the cable connector, but prably safer keeping it a few inches below.. What coil will you be using? Some seem to handle water better than others.. what ever you do dont lift the coil over the control box as water inside the shaft can run up the hollow upper rod and into the control box
