I was wondering how the x terra 70 handles mineralized ground ,. Can it cut thru black sand to hit a coin i dont have one to test or i would make a vidio Gunnar MN

I've been doing a lot of reading on coils recently and they recommend using the 18.75 high frequency coils for black sand. I just received the 10.5 inch DD coil for my 705 today but it's going to be a few months before I'm at the beach to try it out.

I found this on a website "The ground balance circuitry on the X-70 has been designed for ease-of-use and can handle a wide range of ground conditions--from neutral soil to black sand and saltwater beaches."

Well I never hunted black sand. I will say it handled the red clay of NC very well no issues, Beale.

It's been my experiance that the 18.75khz coils do the best in the hot ground. I would reccomend the 6" coil because the less mineralized ground your machine has to process the better off you'll be. I've found some 5"-8" targets in heavy black sands here in Idaho with that 6" 18.75khz coil. Good luck.

Thats amazing that the 18.75 would get that deep in badd ground , i thought the lower frequincy coils would go deeper thanks for the comments so far . in the future i would like to get a detector for trash picking that can handle the badd ground and so far the x terra 705 seems to be the best i know of i was also wondering if wile in all metal will the numbers show and the tones??

Yes, the choice of tones and TID are the same in all the C/T modes. All Metal or any of the Patterns. The numbers also show up in PinPoint mode. HH Randy

I always use four tones and hunt mostly in all metal and i do pretty well with that set up.

Thats good , have you ever been hunting in all metal , and got a low tone and number , and after digging you get a high number and find a masked good target ??

Yeah I have dug several wheaties like that. they both had nails in the hole with them, I barely heard a quick high tone with mostly low tones . When I hunt in all metal and I hear a high tone in with other tones I dig . Alot of times ther is something in there with iron.
