How does the Whites GMT handle small old rusty iron?

Joe Kononchik

I know it is a all metal machine but does the id handle small rusted wire or nails?. I would like to try one for dry sand hunting on beaches. I had a Gold Bug 2 which was good but steel bottle caps and very small rusted iron was havac. I have a Garrett Infinium which has the same problem plus it is not as good on very small gold. I do not want to invest more money without some input. The Infinium is a bit niosy in the water but I have not had the time to really learn it either. Thank for any info,Joe

Joe, I'd get the MXT instead. The GMT is made for iron mineral rich soil, not beaches. The MXT on the other hand can handle both salt and iron mineral soils. Both detectors have iron ID.
