How does the Vaquero compare to the Golden uMax?

No way to make a valid comparison as they were designed to do different things. The value of the Golden is it's ability to alert the user as to what conductance/conductivity range a detected target is in using tones and the ability to notch out segments of the discrimination range so most coins within it's depth range can be found while leaving many trash objects. The Vaquero is deeper, has manual ground balance, linear discrimination and was designed more for all around detecting than specifically for coin hunting.

JB is right the Vaquero is deeper than the Golden but doesn;t have notch and the V is generally an all round detector. I've had a Veq. and 2 cabola's and numerous Goldens. The goldens arent that deep but has good notch system. The V and C are both deeper and the V will have to be adjusted in hot ground about every 20 ft or so if ground changes as it will start chirping etc. so must be adjusted as I live in the midwest and my ground from 1 to 10 is about an 8. thus it keeps me on my toes to adjust the grn bal.or hear the clicking and chirping. just a thought. shortribs (sw Mo)
