Here on Florida's beach it does very well, I hunt dry and wet sand. Even some water, but be careful, I only do this if there is <span style="background-color:#ffff00;">no wave action</span>, If you drop it or you get slam dunked by a unsuspecting wave it's over. A string attached will prevent it from falling all the way down, and I keep mine covered with a sandwich bag and storage bag taped around stem. You will have to re-ground balance when going from dry to wet. I have found by locking the track after doing the balance also helps. Going to wet sand or water may require to reduce sensitivity somewhat.
I use the 6X10 head which give a little better coverage and control. This is the machine I prefer for dry beach hunting, I know others will disagree, Ol-well whatever works for different folks is fine.
