How does the Etrac behave in 2 or 3 or 4 tone?

I am looking for a new top of the line machine and have decided on E-trac. I just can't go back to Fisher. After watching videos of E-trac, I don't think I can take the wide-range multi-tone at first. Before I buy, can anyone tell me how the machine behaves in 3 or 4 tone?? Anything like other older machines such as cz series? I don't have access to a machine to try before I buy. Thanks....

Real world experience in test garden and on the hunt, I like 4 tones. But two tones works almost as well. My CZ20 has 2 tones and I like it on the fisher, too. Personal preferences play a big part in this, as some folks can do amazing things with the Explorer, while I cannot. No trashing of the Explorer, but I personally don't benefit as much from the many "multi" tones it uses. On the other hand monotone (1 tone) is not nearly as good for me as 2 or 4. Three tones is NOT an option with the E-Trac. Try the different tones on the emulator and see which one you find to your liking.

I just got my e trac last night. Iv used a cz6a and id-excel for years now so the 4 tone made it easy to switch. I went out to hunt a school that i have only found 3 Wheaties at in the last 12 years and in just one nights hunt in 2 hours I found 4 wheats. I dont even know the e-trac yet and have already done better with it at that place that anyone I know that has hunted there. Ive been hunting sense i was 11 and im 33 now and iv used teks, whites, compass and fisher in those 23 years and in just one night I feel that i have found the best detector iv ever seen or used. Well thats how i feel about it but to each his own.

I tried Andy's pattern where it holds the tone of the last taget, pitch hold. I didn't think I would like that just by listening to what it's supposed to do. I tried it and Jimmie likes it. The learning is try the tons of variations that are available and you'll find something that hits your style. Jim
