How does the CZ-70a Compare to the CZ5 and CZ3D

Just wondering how they compare. I have had the cz3d and cz5 and was vary happy with them. I never had a cz-70a and would like to try one out, I would assume it would be the same depth as the other detectors just looking for a little input.

All in all the biggest difference is the CZ70 pistol grip versus the analog S configuration, CZ70 ability to notch and is a bit slower...CZ's rel to depth all depend on their tuning but for the most part depth is the same in both. As the CZ3D is still made parts for analog CZ's are available and might be a problem to get all parts for the digital CZ which is no longer made.

I'd stick with the CZ3D if I were you. A little more depth if
you got a good one. The CZ5 is also a great unit. I'd steer
away from the CZ7a, because like Dan says parts are no
longer readily available for these digital units and never cared
for the battery set-up on the CZ7a as opposed to the
analogue units.JMHO! Ask yourself which units are used
more in the field. I don't think the CZ7a ranks in that department.

I've had a 7a, a couple 5s and still have 2 3Ds. Performance is a push as I think there is as much or more variation from machine to machine really than version to version. However the digital units can only adjust settings on a one tenth at a time step where the analog ones have virtual variable settings with the pots/knobs. Also, you have instant change verses push and wait system that I found a bit annoying. So 2 cents more in the pot.

The CZ-70 Pro was designed and produced to compete head to head with the Minelab Explorer. With that being the case, the majority of the CZ-70 Pros have consistant depth performance between units and air test dimes out to 11" plus with a sensitivity setting of 6.

The downside to the CZ-70 Pro is that the sensitivity settings have large differences. Max sensitivity is obtained at a setting of 6. If you need to reduce sensitivity to the next lowest setting, which is a 4, you will notice a depth loss of approximately two inches. Other than that minor note, they are great.

You are much more likely to get a correctly performing used CZ-70 Pro than you are to get a correctly performing CZ-3D new or used.

As Mike and others have alluded to, there is a major difference in cz-3d performance between hot and cold units.
