HOW DOES THE CZ-3D HANDLE MINERALSIZED GROUND ???

GunnarMN

New member
how deep can you get in bad ground ??

I guess thats a NO IT DONT

Sorry Gunnar, I can't help you there. I don't have mineralized ground where I hunt, but I do know it works very well on the salt water beaches I hunt.

JC

I don't know if this helps you or not cause I don't have a CZ-3d but I do have a CZ-70 pro and it 8-9" on a dime and 10" with a 8" coil.and we do have bad ground here in TN. HH:detecting:

Quite well as its so deep even if bad ground loses an inch or two still as deep as most...In my neck of the woods with medium mineralization goes 10 inches plus on a silver dime in most areas..Have heard of detectorists in bad ground setting ground balance a tad negative with good results..Negative ground balance equates to getting a slight audio when coil is brought up from the ground while setting the ground balance...

Works great in mineralized ground....most multi-freq machines excel in that type of ground whereas VLF's tend to fall down.

I just bought a Used CZ5 so am following The CZ forums closely,It may be off topic to this post, but I clean a Lot of iron finds using electrolysis.
At end of cleaning I accumulate a lot of rust in bottom of tank,so have started pouring the solution on ground over one of My test plots.
Do You think this would simulate The badly mineralized Ground?

Kansas soil seems very neutral,so Iv,e seldom needed to Ground balance a detector, but over coal ash I sometimes have to reduce sensitivity(using 1236x2)
Happy Hunting,Mont

Mont there's a lot of different types of ground minerals, but I think it would definitely mimic areas that have high iron in the ground, like areas with that nasty red clay and such. Out here our ground is very complex and we see mineralization of all types from black sandy beaches, alkali deserts (salt), iron, you name it, California has it all, even hard packed clay in some areas. So far for me, the CZ has done fantastic at these sites whereas my other machines may not perform optimally. I was once hunting a salt water beach with my CZ70 and she was running great, there was LOTS of black sand, and my hunting buddy with an Excalibur was having problems with the black sand, which seems odd, as that multi-freq machine with a DD should handle it with ease, but for some odd reason it wasn't whereas the CZ80 was doing great. If they only were able to come up with a DD on the CZ line, I suspect they'd still be around.

HH,
Brian
