How does pinpointing with the 70 differ from the other 2 machines?

From memory it seems that in prospecting mode seems to be more accurate. Is that so, and if it is, why does it work better?
I took the 30 out for a hunt last week end to get reconnected with it, my son had a go as well, and found more than I did:thumbup:.We fond just over $11 in a couple of hours.
One of the things that I like about the X-Terra, is the way that screw caps tend to screem at you compared to a coin, provided that it is in the first couple of inches.

The actual Pinpoint mode is an "all metal, non-motion" mode on all three X-Terra models. Prospecting mode on the X-70 is a motion mode. By moving the coil over the target in Prospecting mode, I not only know the exact location of the target. But it also allows me to do a pretty good job of sizing it. I stopped digging those crushed aluminum cans when I started using Prospecting mode and it's sizing capability. HH Randy

Digger"
Do you hunt in the prospecting mode. Or do you switch too it when you pinpoint.

I typically hunt in the all metal mode. When I hit a target with the consistent tone I am looking for, I check the display to see how much the numbers vary. If they are within a couple notch segments, and I don't hear an adjacent target near the intended target, I go to the Prospecting mode to size the target and pinpoint it. HH Randy

Thank you Randy..I will try that.

Great tip on using Prospecting Mode to size and pinpoint. Thanks alot

Gary
