How does it compare???

More than likely I'll be getting an E Trac soon. I've been reading the instruction manual for it here lately. As far as user wise, is it about as easy to use as my X Terra 705 and 70? Does it give off tones like the X Terra's or does it sound like the Explorer, a flute sound when detecting? How about the weight of it, is it well balanced or does it seem like a chore after a couple of hours use? Alright, I've read the manual a couple of times, I'm still confused about what a TID just might be when I would be looking at two numbers??? On the X's I really don't use the TID except to maybe compare the number to what comes out of the ground after retrieving, If the E Trac is like I think it is you can run it just off of sound am I correct? More questions coming later. Thanks in advance................................

I would say it is as easy to use as the X Terra 70. It's been long enough since I had the X70 I don't recall the tones. I tuned my E-Trac to sound exactly like my Explorer though.

It's MUCH heavier than the X70. I was used to my Fisher CZs though, and I did not feel the Explorer was that heavy, but compared to the X70, it's a beast. I regularly swing for 3+ hours though with no problems, but you should see the size of my forearm.

As far as TID, you have ferrous and conductive numbers, FE-CO, like 12-44 for instance. If you are using coin mode, just ignore the FE number. The CO number is what will tell you what it is, and it is very consistent. For me, a memorial cent is almost always a 44. The tones are the important part, and these just take time to learn. It's not hard though. So yes, you can run it off sound... high tone is good stuff :) But the TID is VERY good too, the sound will not lie, but sometimes the TID will be a bit off.
