I'm really confused when it comes to selling rings i find, should i pawn, or sell to a gold broker, or try to list it on Ebay ?
the last ring i sold, was 14k white gold with 6 small diamonds, i got 11.95 per gram, The ring was 4.6 grams. and i was told the diamonds were to small to really have any value. I keep thinking i could of got more but how ?

fair folks to deal with

DON'T use US Goldbuyers(THE WORST REFINING EXPERIENCE EVER), they tried to rip me off and when I refused to take their offer, they FORCED me to pay the Fed-X overnight charge to match what they had paid to get the items to them. Lets put it this way, I would rather do business with Midwest than USGB. That is another sore subject there, but ARA is the best I've found, BAR NONE!

Hello Gulf Hunter,
I am an Associate Producer at the Discovery Channel doing research for a program tentatively titled "Treasure Nation". I am particularly interested in Galveston Island and the legend of Jean Lafitte's treasure. I would very much like to speak with you about any detecting you do in the Galveston area. Please let me know if you are interested. Thank you.

Hey Gulf Hunter! Haven't used USGB yet but their ads looked good and they are right in the City here but I'll check out ARA. Since my connection, a small independent jeweler, retired, I've been looking around. Got stung by Cash4gold, a totally bad experience. Never again. Thanks for the info. HH Ed

Sure, why not. Not sure I will be much help finding LaFitte's loot though, he hit it purty good.....Good pirate, savvy? Ain't found the 1st piece yet mate. There are plenty books that speak of it and I know where the Maison Rouge was if ya wanted a guided tour, but it is all fenced off and there is a historical marker on the property. Here are some pics.

Read "Treasures of Galveston Bay" by Carroll Lewis and "Lafitte the Pirate" by Lyle Saxon and you will learn as much as I know. Send me a PM, if ya wanna discuss a meeting.

ARAGOLD!! The best to deal with, Honest and they will return the stones from your rings. at todays spot you should get over $23.00 a gram

Hi Gulf Hunter,
Thanks for the info. Looks like we won't be shooting down in Galveston after all but thanks for getting back to me!

Took a ring i found that was 13grams the lady offered me $98 I said sorry I'd rather hang on to it.
If thats what they are offering I'm not selling!

What K? ... 13 grams of 10K is a little over $200 in melt value. Got to make sure you aren't weighing stones too.

I agree ARA is the way to go.

Last year we had a local jeweler do a fund raiser where he gave 10% of the value of gold sold to him during one month back to the school group we were raising funds for (group that his child was in too). OK, nice potential return to the group. But for a seller, he was paying 80% of spot value. So he essentially split his profit with the school. I talked to this guy about ARA and his comment was that they don't do anything for this community ... so don't go there. Fair enough, from his point of view. 80% sounds like it is better than the $98 for 13 grams that you were offered, but it still isn't close to what you can get at ARA. Look them up.
Cheers,
tvr
