How do you mount the v-clip to see the meter

on a sovereign GT. The vertical handle is obviously in the way, so what are any of you doing for that? Is it possible to mount it on top of the handle somehow?

Chuck, the meter mounted on the handle too high.Suggestion for about a $1.50 buy one of those copper hangers at the hardware store.Simple bend the hanger and mount the V clip. The hanger has two screws that will will enable this to attach to your rod asm. This allow you to slide the mount up and down the rod and you can bend for your sight angle,if cosmetics important you can paint the copper hanger black.

I thought about this myself. I figure I will find a way to attached the meter off the hip mount bag. Another option is to have that aftermarket meter installed on your Sovereign in place of the speaker.

Chuck,go to page 16 at this site post 02/22/2010 "My back up rod asm". The hanger used can be purchased at any hardware store.

All I did was install a silver pipe clamp around the "cap" on the top of the handle, drill a hole in the center, screw the mount to the handle. Works well for me. However, there is no adjusting the angle like if you use the previously mentioned pipe hanger. HH Matt.

Yea, he turned me on before about the $2 copper pipe hanger from Home Depot or Lowes. Works great to mount it on top of my custom grip. Check the mods forum for some pics in the Sovereign mod thread.

Another way to do it is to drill out the two rivets that hold the V-clip to the shaft, then drill the shaft all the way through. Then take two long bolts and 6 nuts and washers. Use two nuts on both bolts to hold them to the shaft. Use the other two nuts to snug the V-clip up to the top of the bolt heads. I had to grind the bolt heads down flat so that the meter would clear them when it slid over the V-clip. That works fine, but I prefer the copper pipe hanger to mount it on top of my custom hand grip, or you can use the pip hanger to mount it anywhere on the shaft since it comes with enough bracket length to mount the meter high. I think I posted some pictures of this pipe hangar in the mods forum under Sovereign GT Mods. It's like $2 at Home Depot or Lowes, probably in the copper pipe section. I think Ron or Rick turned me on to that part and it works great. The meter mounted on top of the hand grip is the easiest to see and really sets the machine off in terms of looks and function. That, along with my remote pinpoint switch.

Yea, that's it. I mounted my on top of my custom grip (bike end bar), cut off the excess length, then screwed the V-clip onto it. You need to either use screws with flat heads or grind them down so the meter can clear them and slide over the V-clip as normal.
