How Do You Handle Trashy Areas?

I have a new Ace 350 and I really like it. It is especially good at finding aluminum! I hunt mostly parks and schools in my area and they have lots of trash. Sometimes it sounds like a telephone going off in my ears. So I reduce the sensitivity a lot but I still get lots of trash. How do you handle those situations?

Jim I agree,The sniper coil is a great infestment. not only is it good in trashy areas but also along metal fences,in tot lots around all the metal thats hard to get close to with the DD coil or any of the other coils. also it is great for tight places where the bigger coils just can't go. If you are able to get one you won't be disappointed.

I go somewhere else where it's a little cleaner!!! lol Could be in the same yard,,,on the other side or out in the middle!!

If you are detecting a school and within 40 ft of any parking lot,,it is going to be trashy from plowing snow ,,and everything else,,,into the school yard around it.

Sniper. If it's loaded with tabs, I configure the customs mode to the same as the coins, only I activate the foil segment since that's where the majority of the gold rings seem to fall in my area.

I have the sniper for the ACE 250...had it over a year and never used as the regular coil always worked just fine...and then....I hit a park that was the trashiest place I'd ever come across so I got out my NEVER used one year old coil and it worked great. I'm sure it lost some depth due to its size but still went to 6" easily on dimes.

I've been working on a Park Map project (time on my hands due to being retired!) where I look up all the parks in my area (radius of about 10 miles) by using GOOGLE MAPS and then "Print Screen", save to desk top, open in something else to CROP and make a 4x6 card of it. It goes in to a cheapo 4x6 photo album so I have a booklet of all the parks easily available to me...if one is busy I go to the next one. On the back of the cards I write notes....where did I hunt, find, safe area, etc. and on this one I put TRASHY-USE SNIPER COIL (for the 1st time). I've changed my mind about selling it....it saved my a@@ at this park!

Thanks, guys. I never though a coil could make that much difference. It seems that most of the hunting I do locally in in some really trashy areas. Guess I'll have to get that sniper coil.

Don't do like I did. I kept saying I was gonna get one and a year passed by. It tripled my finds in some areas.

The coil looks so small! Only 4.5 inches in diameter! It must take a long time to cover the same area as the stock coil.

Of course I was in the Relics mode-my favorite mode- and target masking was less than in coins mode. So even if two targets were close- you still got a signal of some kind. What surprised me was that several times whenever a nickel and a clad were together, I got two signals! So, why's everyone talking about slow recovery speed? And it was the belltone AND the standard tone almost at once. Even so, I do well in coins mode at a faster rate.
