Hello,

How do you handle the summer heat when detecting?

Happy Hunting!

P.S. Getting a SE Pro w/ Sun Ray X-1 probe either this week or next week through DeMarco Detector Sales!!!!

I head out at 6:00 am and back by 10:00. I also carry my camel pack full of ice water.

-Head out early and finish before the heat sets in.
-Head out in the evening after the sun is low.
-Hunt for two separate short durations instead of one long duration.
-Have drink of choice available.
-Head to places that have shade trees.
-Hats work well to block the sun.

Plenty of Bass Ale the night before. Then, in the morning, peanut butter and grape jelly sandwiches (2), lots of coffee, and then water for the rest of the day.

Thanks for the info.

Here are the recommendations you have provided:

Head out at 6:00 am and back by 10:00 & carry a camel pack full of ice water.
Sweat (not a problem with me)

Detect in the water.
Drink plenty of fluids.
Plenty of Bass Ale (& Harp Lager) the night before. (Carb Loading)
Tons of water...and a cherry slush on the way home.
In the morning, peanut butter and grape jelly sandwiches (2), lots of coffee, and then water for the rest of the day.
Drink heaps of water whilst detecting and when you get home drink heaps and heaps and heaps and heaps of beer (Bass Ale & Harp Lager again to celebrate my English & Irish cousins I have living in these two countrys).

All great recommendations! If I left someday out I apologize!

God Bless & Happy Hunting,

I also use a strong sunblock and I wear a headband as I sweat and then it's running all over my face and forehead.

All great recommendations! If I left someday out I apologize!

Wear a hat and carry water with you. Also I take breaks and sit under a nice shaddy tree.

I get out early in the morning and work until around noon. Then I take a break until 3 pm, drink lots of water and then I don't think about how hot it is but how many gold rings, silver and gold coins and all the clads I will find before anyone else because they think it is too hot out!!!

i always liked the MAGELLAN shirt and pants at academy sports.... the reflect about 80 - 90% of the heat, they breath perfectly, the pants unzip into shorts and most of the shirts have vent zippers...

another thing i like to do is to buy a few hand towels (white works best) and make sure that when you fold one in half LONG WAY that it drapes down over your ears so that when you put on headphones the towel will absorb the sweat and you can turn the volume up a bit more... the louder volume helps with a towel on your ears and cuts down the noise on high pitch sound while still remaining with excellent true sound ...

with another towel put that over your head with phones on top of first towel and use it like a hat.... this works well for TEXAS heat or anywhere you are out in the sun... if you are under canopies a lot you may not need the top towel
