How do you carry your sand scoop???

New member
I see in some of the pics that you have your sand scoops hanging off your belts somehow? can i make one or do i have to buy it??? thanks for your input....

Here is what i have to offer,I purchased a web work belt from sears for 10 dollars, and also purchased a hammer ring, for the belt,I have the 6061 beach scoop from Kellyco,I bought a 48 inch wide bungee flat cord with snap clips on both end's.

I purchased a round clamp and fastened to the beach scoop, and clipped the bungee on,and then i clipped the other end on the hammer ring on the web belt, around my waste, Make sure your sand scoop is side ways and it will slide following you up and down the beach,I have it towards the left side rear, and my Excalibur,i have attached on the right side of belt, and it works great,Have not tried in water yet,I'm planning on buying that round intertube with the green insert for dumping the sand in,I'm going to attach is to hammer ring and lay end of scoop in the inside, Hopefully it will stay behind also,

This works fine and doesn't pull your pants down. This scoop weighs around 8 pounds. It was brutal trying to carry this for a few hours, forget about 5 or so hours.

this is what i use, just snap it to an large Key Ring on my hip mount belt and drag it behind.leaves a nice mark in the sand to tell where you been too.

Like your scoop! What brand is it?

They are held in by light welds and arent made to carry the weight of the scoop (7 lbs.) from. those bars are simply supports to brace the shaft when digging and moving the scoop from left to right. you might turn it over and hang it from the rear brace bar it is stronger.....HH.....Brian

Thanks Brian, I'll keep that in mind. That scoop is way to expensive to break something off.
Are you able to carry that scoop all day? That scoop along with the Explorer II can get you tired quick.

plus most detectors that have 10" coils will pick up that scoop if you hang it from your belt like that. Brian is right that strut were just meant for stabilization while digging...not to hold the scoop. Over time and a lot of digging the welds where the handle attaches to the scoop break loose which usually comes from wobbling the scoop as you work it down deep into the sand. The extra supports are supposed to help prevent that from happening.

Your right Beachcomber, I do have to lower the sensitivity. It does bring all that stainless too close to the coil. That is one of the downsides.
I'm now half holding on to the scoop when it's hanging on the belt. Thinking about the support brackets and trying to eliminate any bounces while walking. Carrying it over my shoulder is the other option which I end up doing when I'm digging a lot of targets.
Thanks,
phil

When you carry your scoop from the belt as shown you get sand in your pocket, and you needto add a piece of cloth or plastic to cover your pocket. hh sjcoinhtr

I put all my the millions I find in that pocket anyway, so I always have sand in there. Thanks anyway for the advice.
