get a hold of minelab? my wifes xterra 30 works better than my quattro. i buried a dime n quarter last week and its been raining so the ground is plenty wet n the xterra picked out them both but my quattro didn't see them, occasionally i got a 10, -10 or 12 on the display in all metal. coin n jewelry i got nothing. but i bury a quarter an inch or 2 down and it picked it up (the quattro) but kept giving me 35,37,32. a quarter should read 37 or a definite 38. so it is of my opinion that it is junk and need 2 send it 2 minelab for repair. OHHH YAAAAAAA FOR ME!

Hi Redsumit,:ausflag:

Well i had the quattro for two and a half years since it came out and i found that if you sweep over the target a few times you will get a variation of numbers but this does not happen all the time. Some times it lockes on no problem . In the early stages i did send it back to minelab and they could not find anything wrong with it. I now have the exterra 70 and have used a lot of detectors in my time but the exterra would have to be the best detector i have ever had it locks on to a number and it is spot on.

hey thanx alot man. im gonna invent a MD that literally sees into the ground, takes a photo then shows u what it is. then its gonna have a built on board ground sucker. WHY? so u wont have to dig, it will just suck it rite out da ground. YEAH BUDDY. thats what im talkin about .

I suppose your doing these things: adjusting your sens down so you you get very little or no chattering. I will adjust mine down 1-2 steps and hit noise cancel until I reduce my ground chatter (I hunt salt water beaches in Florida' Spacecoast) Swing LOW and SLOW. Noise balance ALOT. Do you have a coil cover and do you wash it out with FRESH water after each use/ how about fresh batteries? is the coil cable tight on BOTH ends? These are a few things I would check. The Quattro is not a true turn on and hunt machine. It has a pretty good learning curve. A friend of mine bought one a few months ago and has only recently begun to get comfortable with it. Patience grasshopper, patience:minelab::thumbup:
