Okay, so I'm not real good at forums.

I been looking for some explanation of how to use this forum. What are the red dots? What are the little pins (sticky pins I would think)? What's the little cartoon caption thing? How do I contact a moderator? How do I private message someone? How do I see someones profile?

I would think this information is here somewhere. I've probably missed it. I'm real good at missing things.
 
harryhh, go back to the Main Forum Index, and click on the New Users Forum link in the sponsor section. Many of your questions may already be answered there.

The red dots are new messages since you last logged on.

A sticky post is a post put at the top by Admin or a moderator.

Emoticons you can use to let people know you are joking, sad and so on. :thumbup:

You can contact a moderator with a PM (Personal message) when those rights are granted...... about two weeks. Until then you can click on "Contact us" at the top and your message will go to Admin.

Profiles, if they have one, can be seen by clicking on their login name.... in your case harryhh
 
Thanks guys, big help.

I had clicked on the New Users Forum link, but missed the New User Instructions banner near the top. It kind of blinks between 'Click here to Read', and 'New User Instructions.' I maybe only saw the click here to read. Following blindly has never been one of my habits.

I did find a blue banner for new user forum, but that didn't help. And I found a link for Forum Index, but that just brought me back to the main page.

I've read the instructions you have pointed me to and there was something in there I really liked. About searching and asking questions. I think I will make a post about it.

I've only been out with it detecting and digging twice, and I love it already. Over did it the second time and got too sore to go out again for a few days I think, but I did go out just to practice. I got a beep and display that I swear is a gold coin, but I was too darn sore to dig it.
 
It seems that my post somehow was taken as being "chastizing", and if that is the case, I truly apologize. It really was just me trying to point you towards what I "thought" was a good resource of questions posed by other new users.
