How do I ID melted metal blobs?

407floyd

Well-known member
I have many blobs of melted metal that I don't know how to ID for certain. The soft and pliable ones are lead and the light colored and lightweight ones are aluminum. How can I tell if it's silver from a house fire of the 19th century? Other metals can be sold by weight if I can ID them. Any ideas on what to do with all the lead I've found?

Buy a test kit.

for a few more dollars you can get a kit that tests several metals silver, gold, platinum.

your lead can be sold for scrap also but not worth much.
