How did the comp hunts work out in NJ?

I heard from all sources it was a fantastic 2 days of hunting in AC.. the sponsors really did a wonderful job fun had by all .....great dinner buffet also Sat Night!!

I only attended the dinner and hunt on Sunday. It looked to been enjoyed by all. There were just a few complaints as the seeding was by hand fulls with some have 100's targets in front of them and other having to hunt for targets. It wasn't done in a favoritism deal just luck of where you started. The second third round were seeded one coin at a time. The complaints came front the side lines as those people could see the results most hunters did not notice the other guy.
On a really cool note on Saturday they seeded the first hunt with bags of coins one guy dug a $ 50.00 dollar bag of Wheaties ya 5000 pennies one scoop. That was cool there also were $25.00 bags seeded.
The winner of the GPX 5000 at the dinner also won the Etrac at sundays event, don't hunt behind him he's very luckly! LOL!

I went both days. weather was perfect, poeple were very friendly and dinner was very well layed out. The fellow who won the gpx won a whole lot more than those machines. He had a very lucky weekend.Me on the other hand had a great time ,not much luck with prizes though. Maybe next time. Anyone know of any other beach hunts coming up?

I went to the dinner on Saturday and had a great time. Of course there was a presentation for the new CTX 3300 and we had a chance to pick up and try out at the dinner. It is a very beautiful machine but was in the price range of $2,500. It also had things like a GPS that I would never use.The weight felt the same to me as my GT. I hunted on Sunday only. I was a little disappointed in the prizes. I picked up 16 little bags with a penny which had a ticket for a raffle. I won an old Morgan. There were Wheaties tokens which I won two, two dollar bills. There were many hunters using Minelabs and with so many people hunting there was a lot of interference. I had to keep switching from band one to two. With so many people that hunt area was very large and it appeared that if you were in the right place you found a lot. I hate it when you have people seeding and then join the hunt. I had a better time at the clubs last two hunts which had less people. They supplied a lot of food and drinks and the club members were very help full and friendly. I thought that since Minelab & the Gold Digger supplied the metal detectors that the prizes would be better. There were a lot of small gold plated & cooper coins that no one wanted. I would rather had silver coins like past hunts. If I had won a metal detector my opinion probably had been different. I really don't care for AC that much since they replenished the beaches. The parking is expensive unless you have a Casino card. There were two women stabbed to death in front of Bally's the following day by a mentally deranged women who lived in shelter nearby. Last year about this time a man was carjacked from the parking lot of Taj Mahal and killed in the daylight hours. I was hunting that day and was in the same parking lot. I will not go to the next hunt unless it is somewhere else like Belmar or Ocean City. I really enjoyed another clubs hunt at Seaside earlier this year even though the weather was bad.
