How deep has it gone?

I'm real close to buying a ctx...just curious as to what your deepest target was and how deep it was. Is this machine by far the best on the market right now in it's class?

My deepest targets so far were some clad dimes at 11" on the beach. As far as the best? That just depends on what your looking for, different detectors for different needs I suppose. It is the BEST forme, I can tell you that much.

I coin shoot mostly..Want to do a water/beach hunt next year also..I know there are spacific detectors..but mostly land hunt....I use an AT Pro now..and figured Winter will be a reat time to start learning the ctx so Im a little more prepared come spring thaw

My deepest coin so far were some clad quarters and nickels, at the beach, at about 10 to 12 inches. As for turf hunting, the deepest coin I found was a Merc dime at 9 inches in my front yard. For me, this is the best detector out there because of the convenience of being able to hunt the turf, the beach and hunt in the rain without worrying about the detector getting wet.

Depth will vary with the ground you are hunting, but I have dug some IH's at 10" in my mineralized ground, the deepest IH's I have ever dug with ANY machine. On the white sand beaches I have dug quarters at 15 inches.

Minelab machines are deep seeking machines or at least the ones I have owned and the ones I have now ( CTX 3030- E-Trac and Excallibur II ). I have found CW bullets 12+ inchs with the CTX along with coins 10+ inchs. Read this forum and you will find plenty of stories and videos of deep finds of coins and relics. The CTX may not be the best machine for you but it sure is for me in these TN. mountains. HH :minelab:

I've been reading....and still have a lot more to do, but just wanted spacifics on a couple things from owners ...thanks

When I first got my detector in June one of my deep dime was a merc at 11 inches it sounded like it was about 5 or 6 and in the last mouth I have been fresh water hunting and getting target at 10 to 12 inches this is the deepest detector I have ever used.:twodetecting::minelab::cheers:

The depth will be dependent on the user, as it is with any machine. Coil control is a must! If you can't slow down when on the beach then this machine will be not different than any other you choose. I know this first hand as I found myself hunting a little faster that I normally do with the 3030. I don't have any reason for this but I just did. But I did find after 300 hrs use, that I find more target better targets and deeper targets when I am at the end of 6 hrs do to being tired and going slower. So the 3030 is no different than any other BBS FBS Minelab detector. You will just have to have the same discipline as you would with any other detector. I have dug half dollars size coins at 18 inches, quarters on the beach at 14 inches, while still walking not at my ultra slow pace! but if you slow down you'll dig deeper targets!

I recently dug a memorial cent at 14".
Yes, I could not believe it either.
It was an older memorial however.
Did not use a CTX, but I did use a Minelab when I found it.

The CTX is right up there with the deepest detectors made and I have used them all. One thing I am noticing is the noise cancel allows me to run the sensitivity higher than other machines that I have used in the same area.

I can run manual 28 in places the Fisher F75 goes nuts, a friend had to turn his old DMC 2 nautilus way down, and my White's V3i would only run in the medium frequency in this same place.

I've only been relic hunting about 5 times with it so far, really looking forward to the update.

Hope is allows manual to run hotter on the beach and it will be a true winner for me all around.

I bought two and if I continue to love it will probably keep two CTX machines and just sell everything but one lightweight machine for trash hunting.

I still think about it as I wasn't being that careful after I hit it. I probably lifted the coil a couple inches off the ground as I circled the target testing as it was way too loud for what I was used to...

G..

From the many posts on this machine, I believe the depth question has been well answered. However,we as humans need to take a step further and look at its other capabilities. Then we will see that this machine can not only go deep but identify more then one target underneath the coil (even when audio fails to tell us there is a coin next to a piece of iron) I feel it is a super feature among others.... Someday I would certainly like to add this detector to my arsenal. Maybe Santa will deliver one :)

3 ringers at 15 "

I've dug a LOT of silver dimes at 11", and a few targets at 12" like my first Large Cent, and one of my KG I coppers.

this was before in system upgrades this unit has pulse depth in the hands of the right operator.
mine has leaked once and was slow getting repaired but they did do a good job as far as putting it in new condition .
I use rubber EMT glove over the battery compartment to keep the sand from settling in around the gasket water hunting and as an extra precaution.
the Silver dollar was found on land in a pounded to death site by everything and its brother.....
mine aint goin No where if any thing i'll buy a twin for back up .......

Happy trails
