My wife and I are just getting back into detecting. Had a garrett BFO hunter 50 years ago. This AT PRO is something and we are glad we got it. We have lots of questions about digging with the PRO. Our home is an old farm and has been here sense the civil was. every square foot has some kind of target . Axe heads, shovel blades, cutter teeth, hand tools, wrenches, lots of square cut nails, and pots and pans. Our problem is after we dig a target in the first 6 in the AT PRO still gives a ping in the hole. After digging another 6 in and finding nothing we still have a ping dead center in the hole. I dig the sides and nothing. My wife says keep digging I say fill it in. This has happened at the salt water beech to.
How far should dig. Any tips will be appreciate. thank you.

I say some of those "pings" are left over from a rusted out object. Lift your coil while still moving it and see how high it will go above the target before the audio shuts off. If it's a couple of feet, you have a very large target underneath. If not, chances are the target exists, or has just wasted away to nothing but rust mixed in with the soil. This is where a Pro Pointer comes in handy. You can use the pro pointer to see if in fact there is still a solid target down there.

Cool! Welcome!
Drop sens a few clicks, or check your coil cable wrap...dig only as deep as you want, the dirt will teach you in short order.
I drop sens a few clicks when I hunt, like 3 or 4 from the top...and the Pro is seriously deep hitting on all good targets that I might want to dig with no ghost signals..

Thanks John
The only pin pointer that I had was the one that came with the kellyco package and you had to touch the target. I ordered the Kellyco vulcon 360 but when I put the battery in it could not find my wedding ring on my hand. On level 5 I could push a plastic container with 40 clad coin with out it sounding. they RMA no problem and I have the new whites pointer coming.
thanks for the tips.
Gary
