sometimes when you are swinging your detector you swing it one way and get a good beep but don't get anything when you swing it the other way or up and down?
 
Also, it could be something on edge that is just at the edge of your detecting depth, so in one direction its seeing more of the face of the object and in the other direction its only seeing the edge. If it repeats in that one direction I would dig it and find out.
 
Both the above are possibilities. Also some trash will cause that. Any beep that's not repeatable, nor repeatable in up and down versus left and riight, is suspect and usually not worth pursuing in my experience. Even more doubtful if it only beeps on the first swing and then won't repeat even in the same direction.
