How can you tell?

How can you tell if the soil is high in mineralization? Is it a particular kind of signal you get when using a concentric/non-DD coil?

Some soils have a higher concentrates of iron or salts and other minerals that cause noise in your detector, you will know when you get into mineralized soils.

Jeff Foster has some info on that subject in his MXT book. I could scan it and post it here but that may be infringing on the copy right.
I don't remember the particulars but will review it and try to pass it on. May take a day or two, stay tuned.

Ah! Thank you, but don't bother. I have the book. I was just waiting to get into it when I have the MXT in hand. I won't be able to get to it for another week or so. Too much else to do. (Happily, some of that will be babysitting for my 5-month-old grandson, and perhaps my 6-month-old granddaughter.)

Thanks again.

Jeff's method is the way to go. I now know my soil is moderately mineralized and the DD's are the way to go. I am also less skeptical of some of the depth claims some people are making. They might have better ground than me. Rob
