If you think it is garbage just throw it my way. If is broke, just send it to Garrett for repairs .... easy solution.

I just got my second ProPointer; for a loaner when someone comes along and doesn't have a pinpointer.
My first one would get intermittent. On and off randomly. I fixed than by putting a piece of cardboard in the end cap that holds the battery so that it keeps the battery firmly pressed onto the contacts. The new one has a piece of foam in the cap that does the same thing that the piece of card board does, but looks nicer.
If you think it might be a bad contact with the battery, try a little cardboard or send it back to Garrett for them to look at and fix.
Cheers,

I assume (yikes) that you mean how can you change the switch so that it is manual on/off...Someone posted this either on the Mods forum, or here or on the AT Pro forum...do searches on those forums for Pro Pointer Mod...
If you mean change the auto GB to manual...I cannot help you there, and think it would be more trouble than it is worth...If your Pro Pointer does not GB right, it needs to go back to Garrett for repair/replace...

Heck sport, if it has a problem talk to garrett about it.
I have had my propointer since the time they first hit the market and it has not given any trouble and works fine.
if you want a pointer that detects deeper then try the Pistol probe. I have one of those and it goes deep but this actually makes it a bit more difficult to pinpoint an item quickly.

IMO, this guy was pulling our chains. There is nobody out there who is into MDing and actually feels this way about this Pro Pointer. If there is, then sell it cheap and I'll buy it. If you think it's junk, 20 bucks outta get our deal done,,,right? martin

It is more rugged than the pistol and don't eat batteries like the pistol. Also if you super tune it; it's almost as deep as the pistol. I hardly ever super tune mine. I don't need to go more than 4".
