Below Are The baddys......

That's funny, John. Another funny/embarrassing thing was I did the same thing yesterday, only with a bank teller.

I had tumbled cents through quarters earlier in the week and rolled them. Yesterday I took them to the bank for cash and one roll of quarters was slightly off center. Yeah, to make a full roll I had one quarter that had been lawn mower dinged and it made it look off. Of course, the teller with two more customers in line behind me, deemed it necessary to inspect the roll. All she found was the dinged quarter, but tumbled clad never looks like it came right from the mint, so she glanced at every quarter and asked me what happened to them. She was nice about it as I am a regular customer, but a transaction that could have been handled in two minutes took 5 or 6.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know you aren't alone with cashing in dug coin finds problems. HH jim tn

And......I spent hours washing all my clad to prevent sand and grunge from jamming up that Coinstar machine. Because we don't make pennies anymore, the bad ones are accepted and returned to the mint, where they are recycled for their scrap value. I was surprised that the machine jammed, as many were rejected and returned in the rejection slot.

I guess, a nice hammer will do the job to flatten them and then they too can be recycled.

I use a wide nose pillars, I put a piece of cloth around the coin and squeeze them flat. Quarters take a hammer, though. Our cents have been zinc for quite some time. If they have been in the ground more then over night they are half rotted away. Isn't it fun to be a treasure hunter?:super: HH jim tn
