How are you M6 users doing?

What do you like about it? What don't you like about it? Does it have good target separation compaired to some of the new detectors out there? Can you crank up the sensitivity and still have a stable machine? Use an Xterra 70 but want a faster response time with a tone ID in some cases. Just trying to find out as much as I can before buying. Coil selection looks great.

Thanks for any information you can give.

I just love my M6. Wouldn't trade her for anything. She has super fast response time and I can crank up her sensitivity to past 100 % in alot of situations. As far as trash separation, with the 4x6 DD, she is as good, if not better than any tector out there today. Go low and and go slow and you will be amazed. The tone ID allows you to hunt with little to no desc and jacked up senc. Set up like this you also get max depth. In optimum soil maybe 8-9 inches for coins , up to 12 for bigger objects. This little detector has the same horse power as the MXT, it just lacks some of the bells and whistles. For the money , IMHO this is the best detector on the market. It can do it all, coin and jewelery, relic. gold and beach. What more could you want. Once you've M6ed your fixed! Hope this helps. Littletwig:yo:

Kurt,
I love the M6. I have the stock, 4x6 and 6X10dd coils. The machine worked great in iron country...Upp Pen, Mi with GB. I have only been TH'ng since March so I can't compare to another machine but I believe you would be happy with it.

In the past couple of years I have had a BH Time Ranger, Fisher Goldbug II, Garrett GTP 1350, Tesoro Tejon, Minelab XS and SE, and a Fisher F75.. The M6 is the only one I've kept.. Hows that!!

I'm sure asking a question like that on this forum is going to roundup some biased answers, so here's another. I've had my M6 for a year and a half and have been very pleased. My budget and MD activity had me down to purchasing the xterra 70 or the M6. I am mostly a coin shooter at fairly trashy areas. The coil selection and response time of the signal were the main two reason I went with the M6. I mostly use the 4x9 DD coil and the target separation is great! I have also found that you can increase the sensitivity much further without getting scratchy using the DD coil instead of the stock coil. Good luck

I do like everything about it.. But it lacks notch disc but I usually run all metal..

The best unit out there for the money. My M6 is not a lazy unit love to play outside. i've been doing only late night hunts because of work and getting to really know the different sounds she makes when locating targets.

What kind of bells and whistles does the MXT have that the M6 doesn't that you are doing without?

Well I'm not littletwig but It has coin and jewelry mode, relic mode, and prospecting mode.. Also has a threshold... What the M6 is a combination mode and has seven tones and if the MXT had that I'd buy it..
Ray...

What cosmic said about the bells and whistles on the MXT.

In 2008,72 silver coins and about a dozen pieces of silver jewlery. It's simple to use and a lot of coil choices.I picked mine up used for $ 350!

Just my opinion but i love the 7 tones while using "0" disc on the M6 and not so much for the solid hits but the tone variance when hunting older trashy sites with smaller coils especially when older targets aren't too deep. Had the M6 about 2 years now and love it. If my modified IDX Pro had a tone for each target block i'm not sure i would feel the need to have an M6 but it is what it is for my wants. HH Bill

hi bill!
when you indicate you like it for older targets in trash, but NOT too deep with the smaller coils are you specifically referring to the 6+10 dd coil?..and if so,won't this coil get deep old targets in trash?..just wondering!...what was your deepest coin found so far with the dd 6+10 coil?..thanks!
