I bought the Garrett Pro-Pointer all -terrain pin pointer and think its great . I mostly hunt the salty wet sand and can tune out the saltwater with this pointer. Many times submerged with no problems . I liked the original Garrett pointer but did have problems with salt water. To me it's like the new version is the 30/30 and the old an E-Trac.

ok e-tracker well noted i also have a garrett 2years now still ticking like a clock but time to get a back-up!

Hello everyone,
Just got my new Deteknix XPointer Diver Pinpointer today and went down to my local beach for a test run with my CTX3030. The pinpointer looks good and works well but I have found there is some interference when I swing the 11inch coil close to my side of my body . I have found the only way to eliminate the interference is to turn off the Pinpointer after I have used it. Would like to know if anyone else has had this problem and how they worked around it?

Um, I always turn off my pinpointer when I'm not using it. This question baffles me.

It seems that the CTX and other FBS machines do not play well with PI pointers, as has been reported by some XPointer owners. I had a problem with the Pistol Probe and the CTX getting along. It's not that the probe was interfering with the CTX, I always had it turned off when I wasn't using it, the problem was that the CTX was interfering with the operation of the PROBE. Drove the the P-probe crazy. I would try to get the CTX as far away from the hole as I could and it still didn't help. Noise canceling to the probe didn't seem to do a whole lot either; and frankly, I don't like to noise cancel to any particular source of EMI if I can otherwise eliminate it. And really, it's not good to detect with the pinpointer turned on. Definitely a source of EMI. Anyway, finally got a TRX. Problem solved.

If I understand you correctly, you're going to find out quickly that PI based pinpointers (like your Deteknix) eat batteries faster than the VLF units (like the Garrett and TRX).
If you (accidentally or on purpose) leave the pinpointer on, it should automatically turn itself off after a period of time, but you'll be replacing batteries on a more frequent basis.

Hello Everyone,
Thanks for the quick reply to my Pinpointer problem like all of you have stated just turn it off after using it. Looks like its just another bit of Electronic equipment I have to turn on and off each time I need it.

Regards Electriken

You could turn the pinpointer on, hold it close to the coil and do noise cancel. It will adjust the channels to accommodate the pinpointer. Of course that may have some effect on the optimum channels to search with.

I did this at the beach with the original x-pointer and it seemed to work well.

underwater 2FEET? can not be more deep?

deep in water has pressure on the cover and how to push ON/OFF buttom?
