Hit the woods all ready and raring and three hours later I bit the bullet and called it a wrap. We all have some tough hunts from time to time, but this one would have to rank near the top. 1 clad quarter. Don't know what the piece is on the string. No markings of any kind. Has like vinyl wrapping over a plastic tube. Anyway, for you new guys and gals out there, not every hunt always yields goodies. Great morning to be swinging, though. HH jim tn

We have 12-14 inches of snow on the ground (I hate air tests...but, how does my AT Pro perform with 12-14" air). Nice finds!

Oh my gosh! But not sure you are right. I have, though, learned to heed un-astute observations, so for my next finds post I'll dust off my plate with the floral design and use it. Thank you for your help. Need all I can get. HH jim tn

It was a gorgeous day for detecting. One of those Spring like days. It was almost t-shirt weather.

I'M VERY FAMILIAR WITH THAT TYPE OF HUNT, JIM, BUT IT'S NICE TO GET OUT ANYWAY. NEW HUNTERS DO NEED TO REALIZE THAT NICE FINDS AREN'T FOUND ON EVERY HUNT AND JUST BE PATIENT AND LEARN. HH JIM. CYA-MARK

Jim, I think that motor you found belongs to what Tabman and I named "the bad thing". We found it a few times while hunting the park forest.

Just getting out of the house and into the open air, a little sunshine and some companionship with a Hunting buddy is a pretty nice day in its self.

My last hunt yielded $2.23 in clad,a junk charm and 3 pull tabs. In my limited area that is a good day..

You are absolutely right in your analogy that not every hunt yields the good stuff. Every hunt is a surprise waiting to happen.

If a person follows the general rules of detecting, sooner or later there is great surprise waiting for them.

Research your sites, learn your machine inside and out, sweep your coil slow, close to the ground and dig every repeatable signal. You will EVENTUALLY Find the good stuff I
GUARANTEE IT.

At least it was a quarter and not a penny! I've had a couple of those hunts, though I'm usually lucky enough to find at least one item that makes me smile, be it money or relic or a nice, fat chunk of Copper, heh. Sometimes I have to stop, take off the headphones, look around and just be grateful for the day and beautiful country and the wonderful hobby that is so full of interesting surprises. It's good to know that you don't always come home loaded down with silver and gold!
Here's to tomorrows hunt:

Check out that tube on the string. It looks like a lost Geocache to me. If you open it up and find a piece of paper with names written on it that is exactly what it is. That kind of container is very common in Geocaching. http://www.geocaching.com

OK...he can PM me if he has to, for the life of me I cant figure it out...it must be really bad...not some sort of dope container?

Tennbach just PM'd me ...said it is a component out of an "Adult toy" he and Tab found one day out in there, said a squirrel must have dragged it off, and you found it?......Adult toy? like what? A 4 wheeler or bassboat?

Still wondering...Mud

Truth be said there Jim, lots of hunts with mostly a trash run being the main event lol. Now those glasses could be used as part disguise of perhaps a trooper, an you could bust people who carry things like that string thing out in the woods lol . HH
