I guess thats what you call em, the black ones that sound off real good. what can I do to eliminate them or at least should I listen for something in the audio to clue me in that its one of them. I bought my Vaquero to hunt for gold jewelry, the real small stuff, so I put the disc at the iron setting which will hit one of the smallest chains Ive found so far.

Thanks,
Neil

If there are not a lot of them ... I try to live with it and pick them up.

If there are a lot; see if you can ground balance to the rock so you don't beep on the rock and beep only on desired targets. May loose a some depth by not optimizing the ground balance to the main surroundings, but that's part of the trade off.

My Tejon does not ground balance out coal ... so in certain areas I live with it or use a different detector. It is frequently about trade-offs.

As a note to the other thread about listening to the detector talk ... with your Vaquero, you note hearing the crackle of iron ... if you thumb the discriminator up while swinging short over the target until the target you are focused on starts to crackle or disappear you have another piece of information about it by observing the discrimination setting where it is discriminated out. That is pretty much like giving yourself a target ID with out have a display tell you a number. The discriminator is very repeatable as long as the knob doesn't get loose.

You can return the discriminator to your normal hunt position and continue.
Enjoy!

Hi There
Get your point on the Vaq, i use the Vaq, but as i said on a post before, if you get a good loud hit with the Vaq go for your life with the Discriminator on the Vaq, see where the signal breaks up, But if you get a fainter type signal using the Disc can loose the target, you loose depth the more disc you use.
Try it, could be fatal on very small gold,Not to forget very faint signals should get louder the deeper you go, not all the time though.

See ya
Dave

I will give the GB and disc adjustments a try as youve suggested. I appreciate the input, Thank you!
