How about adding a Sunray X-1 or using older coils

I had hoped that Minelab would have a pin pointer as part of their new detector. Since the cable on the CTX3030 goes all the way back to the battery, I can't see how an X-1 pin pointer could be added to this machine. Don't know how I can detect without the X-1.
Since the cable is so long, I guess that none of my coils that fit my E-Trac will work unless someone comes up with a cable extension. Let me know if I am wrong on this.

The old coils are not compatible for two reasons. One the new coils are "smart" or they contain processors in them where as the Pro coil doesn't. Two they have a special waterproof connector on them where the Pro coil doesn't. The sun ray coil will most likely never work. You'll need a hand held.

Looks like Garrett is going to make a little money off this new development on its PPers. Since they have the lions portion they need to learn from ML and do a price increase. So basicly they did the same thing to the coil they do on the BBS? Hadnt thought about the probe.... thats a hard one to do without. OK Ralph get on the stick.

Ralph would have to cut the coil cable at the upper shaft to attach the switch box. He could also make an extension cable so we could use some of the older coils.

I would heavily caution you on doing things like this due to warranty status of machines. Especially one that's waterproof. If modifications and or addition of aftermarket stuff impacts the waterproofing of the machine you may be SOL when it comes to repairs if the machine takes on water.

Do I see a wireless pinpointer in the future of detecting? The CTX is halfway there already with the wireless headphones. I don't think it would take too much more to put a WiStream in a handheld.

That's what I'm waiting on & I think it's going to happen! (I just hope it's sooner rather than later)

be manufacturing any coils or probe for the new CTX 3030. It is not possible due to the chips, etc. which we will not have access to and the detector design does not lend itself to an in-line probe. We DO NOT recommend that anyone attempt to connect our in-line probe to this detector as (1) it will not work anyway and (2) you will definately VOID YOUR WARRANTY on the detector!
