Neat! I'm in the process of developing mine. I'm going to place an LED in the stick with reflective material so that when the target is detected ONLY the user will see the light-it will be embedded in the cane. And did you know that a bfo will not pick up small nails but will a gold chain?
 
I wouldn't want to use anything plastic as a digger or probe.. Would last even less
time than the flimsy Chinese digger I first got with my machine.. I think 3 days was
it's lifetime.. :( The problem being the thin flimsy stem..
My current digger is all metal, and one piece. Totally indestructible. :)
I bought it at Home Depot for chump change. It even has ruler markings on it. :)
Actually, as I stated in the "probe" thread, I use a probe 98% of the time..
I don't dig a hole. I erupt the ground like a mini earthquake. Does less grass
damage if on a lawn.
