HI PEOPLE....LONG TIME NO HEAR FROM ME, BUT IVE BEEN AWAY AND FOR THOSE WHO REMEMBER ME, THE COILS I MADE FOR THE EXPLORER XS FAILED...NONE WORKED PROPERLY.
SO, I SAVED MONEY, WENT OUT AND BOUGHT AN EXPLORER II.
But,im having a problem...a major problem...
I have set it up the same way as my XS but it wont work the same....no matter what I do I cant get the THRESHOLD to stay audible when I swing the coil...as soon as I stop it comes on again...I have made several changes to the settings but nothing seems to work...the threshold will not stay constant
HELP, HELP, HELP.....I cant work the machine when it behaves this way....
Is there anything I should do to get it working like the XS ????
thanks
Efgenios

what you are getting is the null from passing over targets or minerial.
youdid not list settings and there are a few that will cause it.

see if this helps....
click on the link.
Most of it is picked up from people here.

I agree with Charlie, turn sensitivity down, I live in a high mineral area in England, drives untouched xs's mad. Good luck with what your trying.

Thank you for your reply people,
My new Explorer is the II not the XS, so im sure the settings are different.
On my XS, no matter where I have the sensitivity (or any other setting) the threshold never goes away...and I never have the sens lower than 32 on the XS (cause that way I dont lose depth)...
on the II, I have tried the sens down to its lowest....still nothing....when I move the coil the threshold nulls.....this cant be normal...on the book it says that it will null ONLY if we use discim...and I never use discrimination because again this makes the detector lose depth...
so, here are my settings :
disrim : none (clear screen),
sens :32 (for max depth),
recovery: deep on, fast off,
max limits: 8 and 4
audio: normal
gains: high on vol, 7 on gain
does any of this help ? (I also now have a WOT coil and a smaller 6 inch that came with the Exp II, the problem is with all coils....)
thanks guys.

if u read my posting again u will see that I have already tried that....no use....my machine doesnt want to work properly...ive probably got me the one lemon that came out of Minelab....not my lucky period is it ?....but at least now I have coils for my old XS....which works like a breeze....but im selling it next week.....
isnt this irony ???...with my old XS, I had a detector, but a faulty coil....now I have new coils, but a faulty detector....haha...it doesnt get any better, does it ?
