Hot shot coils..

I have really enjoyed using one on an MXT. Very lightweight, great depth, sensitive to small objects, easy to pinpoint with, very stable and smooth operating...It works better than I expected it to.

Hi,

I also have a HotShot for the MXT, and am very happy with it. Not so much that it goes any deeper but I like the little extra ground coverage, and it does not feel any heavier than the 950 coil on my arm.

But I have a friend had one and he did not like it. Thought it was erratic. So go figure. Maybe he had a bad coil.

I say its all that its advertised to be, and am very impressed with its results in the field for relic hunting. On the XLT it certainly finds whats been missed, big and small, runs smooth and Deep. Honestly, one of the best coil purchases I've ever made. It compliments my kind of detecting as a Relic hunter,Mixed Mode user, and needs for added depth over the stock 9.5 (thought I'd never say that) to hunt our hammered sites, and locating deep Civil War Soldiers Huts for excavation. This thing is hittin on deteriorated brass buttons below the old plow level....thats Impressive !!

No Smoke here,

First one I had years back now worked well adding extra depth and detection width.
Unfortunately it failed due to water leakage.
It was replaced without question but this one was erratic and got sent straight back. The next replacement was not as bad as the previous one but would not take sensitivity increases so the depth was only a fraction above that of the stock coil. At this point they refunded my money.
So I would not buy one off E-Bay. Buy new and if there's any problem it can be sorted. There were production problems on the first runs (Spectrum/XLT version). Hopefully by now it should be a fully sorted product. My other J.S. coil has had thousand of hours of use without trouble.
