Big waves but warm water this am...found my shorty and wore it anyway..It must have shrunk, cause I couldn't get into the top half! I check Windfinder to see how strong and what direction the waves will be coming from...it didn't look good, hard out of the west most of the night means big surf for me, then I go to the beach webcams, even though its still dark, the lights reflecting off the water from the pier give a good indication if Windfinder is accurate. Real hard to retrieve in the surf, but I got this Gerber knife, and Neptunes trident he had when he was a baby, so I kept looking for a stack of gold! Just clad and junk, but good sign that nobodys got in here and swept it very good for a while! Maybe I'll get out this afternoon...
Good Luck and HH to you all!

Start off to one side of the target and press the Pinpoint button. Go over the target until you have the strongest signal on the top bar. Push your coil forward and right when the signal drops to nothing the target will be right at the back of the coil . Deep targets will be slightly forward of the back of the coil. Zinc pennies are the only exception. There are other ways but this way works great after you practice it a few times. Really works great in the water!

Hey CDO, I'm trying to figure out this PP and depth too...

I am using the toe pinpoint method shown in this video: http://www.garrett.com/hobbysite/hbby_at_pro_dd_pinpointing.aspx

Wiggle over your target to confirm it, then move to one side, press and hold pinpoint. Move back over target until you get the strongest signal, then move the coil straight back towards you. When the signal drops off, the target is right under the "Garrett AT" logo on the toe of the stock coil.

I have stopped looking at the pinpoint display as I find it's a little slower than the audio and can be misleading. Just listen for the strongest tone before moving the coil back to "toe" the target.

Thanks guys...I'm running in Pro Zero...but I'd sure like to have the tone tell me how deep the target is...is that in Pro Custom mode? What settings on the tones gives the best target ID for you all? I think I'll try Pro Custom with some iron disced out, right?

All Pro modes give you proportional audio, so the volume of the tone is louder with shallower targets, softer with deeper targets. Standard mode tones all have the same volume regardless of depth.
