Hot Lake Hotel, aka Hot Lake Sanitarium

This building has quite the history. We fell in love with it due to it's extensive history that dates back to the mid 1800's. In the mid 1980's my wife's mother's cousin of some sort (lol) owned it when it was a bed and breakfast. It's now a gallery which is better than the dilapidated condition it was in when we use to visit it, but not where I would have gone with the restoration. It's got some great haunting stories over the past few decade so if it were up to me, I'd have taken the restoration in that direction. Either way, this picture was taken in 2000 or so and was scanned from my 35mm 3 x 5 photo so the quality isn't great. But with the ghost stories that go with this site, I think the picture fits it rather well
Here's a bit of history from wikipedia but there are better actual stories out there on the Internet

us a ghost story or two. Do you have any more pictures of this old building? Thanks for sharing this with the Forum. Kelley (Texas) :)

I don't have much in the way of ghost stories to tell from there personally. However, with all the history and scarey stories associated with this place, we got the doidles scared out of us one time when a HUGE thunderstorm came overhead while we were all inside checking the place out. It's just exactly as you may imagine from a haunted horror flick. Door smackin', wind whippin' through....
I do suggest that you check this place out on the internet if you ever have some spare time. Here's a great place to start : http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/forum/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=search&fromMainBar=1

^^^the first picture above is where the doctor "Dr. Phy" lived a few miles away in Union, Oregon. This guy is the reason for all of the hauntings, or all of the stories depending on what you have experienced or what you believe. He did a lot of experimental surgeries at that hospital/sanitarium. There was rumoured that blood dripped from the ceiling of the surgery room which is the upper left room if you're looking at the building from the front. Inside the room was porcelain Mosaic tiles from floor to ceiling including all the walls. The floor was concaved to divert the spillings through the drainage system. What types of spillings??? You tell me....

please pay close attention to the picture that's taken down the hall and tell me what you appear to see. i never saw anything at the time this was taken.

You can laugh about it now, but at the time I suspect is was not very funny! Thanks for the link, should keep me busy and out of trouble for awhile. Kelley (Texas) :)

Some of them are sorta spooky looking. You could probably write some great, interesting stories about this area. Kelley (Texas) :)

The place looks spooky to me and I would not want to be there by myself or at night. I would leave the thing alone, why tempt fate? Kelley (Texas) :)

My ex brother in law tried the night thing there once. Yeah, no. We got out near where the fire hydrant is in that one picture and heard weird noises inside the building. Then we hear things fly over our heads. And when I say fly over our heads, I don't mean bats or something actually flying, I mean things being thrown from the building at us. I actually have that on video tape somewhere around here now that I think of it. Anyway, as neat as it sounds, we knew it was just a bunch of punk kids inside screwing with us but it sure scared the crapola out of us.
