Hot, hot but lots of good targets...(and some ranting).....

I got permission to hunt a school this morning. Many of the schools down here have a 6 ft. chainlink fence around the whole school property and the schools are closed to the public. We have to beg for permission to hunt. Man, the Xterra-70 was singing to me!!! In 1 3/4 hr. I dug 21 Quarters, 22 Dimes, 8 Nickles and 13 pennies.

Yep, I think I have determined what setting I had wrong and now I am doing well on nickles. I had been messing around with the threshold setting and left it at 0. I moved it to 5 and it made a huge difference on the nickle signals. Sometimes I am my worst enemy when it comes to setting up my detectors. I do not just set up a detector and hunt. I am always trying different settings, especially on a new detector. The more bells and whistles a detector has, the more one needs to understand them and the only way to do this is to experiment with the settings! There are many things in the ground that will mess up a detector unless you know and understand how to read the detector and the ground. After almost 30 years, I am still learning! Maybe this will help someone else! Ranting over for now.
