Don't know how the weather has been in your neck of the woods - but here in the Hawkeye State it's been HOT, HOT, HOT & DRY, DRY, DRY - was out the other night with the C$ and the ground was just like cement - need a good shot of rain BAD!!! HH - Hawkeye Jim.

Have never tried water hunting - if this dry weather pattern keeps up, I might have to try it!!! Good Luck & HH - Hawkeye Jim.

Tony,

The water up here is NICE now! Got out for a while and look see what I got!
I couldn't believe the dang stone was missing :crylol: it would have been a 1/2 carat! :rage:

That would have been a keeper for sure!:rage: But it doesn't look like a total loss. Are those stones under the big one? I can't tell from this tiny monitor I'm looking at right now. That's OK....The part you got will melt nicely!:D I don't figure it will be too much longer and I will get wet. Congrats on the gold!:please:

Got about 2 & 1/2 inches of rain overnight and still raining - really needed the liquid gold, but it ruined our club hunt for today! Hawkeye Jim

:buds:Hi Jim how does the Cs perform in dry hard dirt some of the old oil town sights I hunt out here date from the early 1900S.

Allot of the sights are vacant and the ground is rock hard and dry, no grass allot of trash.

I keep a small pick hammer for these sights, your regular digging tools are of no use until you break the first 2" to 3" of packed dirt (it can be a work out session). The ground is normal to medium mineralized in most places with a few higher mineralized spots threw out the area.

Take care

Hi Bill - last Wednesday I was in SE Iowa on business and went out to the local fairgrounds for a little coinshooting - it was super hot and the ground was extremely dry and HARD - I thought the C$ worked just as well as in normal ground conditions, was just extremely hard and tiring trying to dig the targets - it sounded off loud and stong on a very small brass cap. Good luck and HH - Hawkeye Jim - just got about 3" of rain overnight, so the ground conditions should improve here.
