Ever have one of those days that you wonder why the heck you got out of bed?? Well yesterday was one. My boat is docked in Anchor Bay in Lake St. Clair and got there at about 7:30 am. Went out in the lake to one spot with a friend and found a little over a dollar in new change. Decided to go to another spot and the water was super shallow. Dragged my out-drive through lots of mud. Played in the water and got another few dollars in new change and one lousy wheat cent. On the way back my boat overheated. We think too much muck went into the water pump. Couldn't restart it. Motor acted like it was froze up. Had to get towed to a marina. My friends wife came to get us. He let me borrow a new battery and I took it back. Motor was froze. Wouldn't turn. So I drove 45 minutes back home and got my trailer. BUT on the way back I noticed I was low on gas. Stopped at a gas station and realized my credit card was in my shirt pocket at home. So I got 12.00 in gas and got home Got my card and the trailer. Went back and paid 10.00 to pull the boat out. BUT the good news is that it started when I got back!!! BTW, this is a brand new 350 Chevy motor in the boat!! Brought the boat back to my friends BECAUSE my trucks transmission got stuck in 4 low. Dropped off the boat. Got the transmission out of 4 low and went home. I am getting a new transmission in my truck tomorrow because it has been in the shop 8 times and it slips in first and second gear also. They got the new transmission on Friday.
Today I went for a drive without my canoe or boat. RATSSSSSS. I went to the lake I received the ticket at. For any of you that didn't hear the story. The ticket was dismissed by the police. BUT on further checking by the prosecutor and the Lt of the local police force, YES it was public property where I went in BUT according to the Lt. in charge of DNR, it was still illegal for me to access the lake through that stream. LOL Michigan laws for you!! HOWEVER, I found a person today that not only will let me in the stream FROM his property, He will also let me park in his driveway!!!! This lake is ALL mine!!!! The only GRAY area is that if a homeowner asks me to move because he owns the bottom of a pie shaped piece of land to the middle, I have to move to the next piece of property. BUT I can anchor my canoe anywhere and I can still have fun without the hastle of knowing if I am for sure legal or not!!
So I went to another private lake I have access to from 2 people on it. (its great to find rings for people!!) I made only one dive and found 2 silver rings and 3 silver roseys and a few new coins!! Also got a nice old anchor from Detroit.
So tomorrow, new transmission. Pull my boat back home and clean the muck out of the out-drive and if I have time tow it back to lake St. Clair and drop it off again.
I hope most of you had a better Saturday than I did!!!!
