Hope This Is A Sick Joke, But Just Posted In Sovereign Forum- Explorer SE Pro & Sovereign GT Discontinued...

They're all being run out of Dodge! I will miss the SE Pro....wonderful machine. Oh, and the CTX Starter Pack is out too! I thought that was a bad idea anyway.

It was a good run while it lasted... Now it may be time to move on to new Horizons .............. or buy a couple and set em back for future usage..

Like you said Elton ,,,, it will be time to move to new horizons ,,,,,when they quit making parts for the SE

It would be sad to not have the option of getting my SE repaired if needed. But I wouldn't exactly be crushed if I had to buy an ETrac ..

Interesting.

They must plan on revising their product line-up.
Sales and marketing techniques rule of course, and the bean counters are going to decide what makes the bucks.

Tell you one thing, I don't want bells and whistles on a detector...I want performance.
I can bring a cell-phone along for bells and whistles.

But, there are RUMORS of a new Fisher and a new White's ...so who knows.

Making money in the hobby metal detector industry sure might be a toughie.
It is not like you are selling golf clubs.

Hate to say it ..... but the SE has what 6 years on it now? I heard rumbles back early in the year so this doesnt surprise me but im disappointed like most. As far as parts go just now stopped really repairing the XS..... i suspect it will be several years before they stop repairs..... but let me ask.... who has ever had problems with thier SE??? Same pretty well goes for the Sov except for those who dunk it out there. These machine will always be desired they are just that good. Im hoping for a better water machine out of this that does the water and sand better than the Sov/Xcal..... its been clammered for FOREVER. ML will loose my business if there isnt something good coming out. Id be more than happy to go back to whites or even fishers..... IF they produce a better machine to do what i need to do. I believe Fisher is going to do a dual frez F75.... maybe even water proof it. Whites.... well the V3 does well on the beach, but it complicated and the DF is the best PI out there right now. If they are thinking beach either of them..... they need to think uncomplicated simple. Hurts me..... i was looking for a beach back up i may have to wait.

I don't think the bean counters at Minelab get it... Not all of us are going to spend two grand for a detector... So they eliminate the best selling model that competes with the CTX....I guess its a good thing their will be plenty of surplus se pros on the used market for a few years to come , but I am dissapointed at this decision.. All I can think of is that they would have a new explorer model ready to announce in the future....Thing is a lot of us like the old simple setttings of the explorer ..I don't want a gps on my detector , the explorer has a few settings , but no where near as many as my dfx did... Or is the market just that tough right now ? Seems a lot of us detectorists are guys my age that have been doing it for years ..But I have to admit , its getting harder every year for me to find good spots...The cost of gas has really put a ding on this hobby...Costs a few bucks every time you drive somewhere , and the payback is ussualy not high..I do it for enjoyment , and excersize , sure hope they keep their customers happy for many years to come..

This is an interesting thread. I only hope minelab continues to pursue the hobby level detectors. Time eill tell I guess.
