Homemade Sand scoop Help

I am thinking of Cutting up this Aluminum I have to make a sand scoop. It is pretty big I didnt take measurements on it but I did weight it to see how much I could get for scrap. It weighs in at 59 lbs Do you think it could be done? Any tips info would be helpful thanks.

I can be done - having a metal brake (break?) would be good though to make the bends in the metal before you weld it on the seam. You might cut the pattern your self, and have a metal company make the bends in it for you. I would go with a whole lot of holes in it though. It's probably easiest to cut the pattern, lay out the holes, drill them, then have a shop finish it with the bends and welds. To bend that your self, can be done, but requires a lot of clamping, aligning a push bar, clamping the push bar in place, then bending, unclamping, and if you need to do a better job on the same bend, going through all if it again. An alternative method of bending, on your own, is to use a hydraulic jack to apply the pressure. A shop should have the right tool for this job and it shouldn't cost you much to have them bend it and weld it. I don't know the going rates right now. What to use to secure a handle to the scoop is something to think about though.
