Homebrewed Digger

Here is a couple pictures of a digger I made for my son. Stainless handle, and the rest is mild steel. It was a quickie, because I only had about 15 minutes to get it done...any ideas for improvements?

Need to apply a large washer at the base of the handle to keep your hand from slipping and hitting the digging blade is my opinion. Other than that looks GREAT for a 15min job!!!

The way that this is used, I didn't see that as an issue....and I thank you for your advice.

I put a large washer on the butt end of the handle, so that there is a good solid place to push, and well as a good diameter handle to be able to get plenty of torque when pulling back and forth for the cut. We usually plunge the tip, press on the back of the handle to get the depth, and then move it back and forth to make the cut. We cut "V" plugs, and have found this system very efficient, as it does less damage, and is a quick recovery method so long as you have done your part on the "pinpointing".
